Textile Fibres

Cotton

Natural fibre, that grows in a boll or protective capsule, around the seeds of cotton plants. Pure cotton is highly absorbent, breathable, tear-resistant and easily washable.

Polyester

Fibre made from synthetic polymers. It is tear-resistant and very fast drying, and it is often combined with other fibres.

Polyamide

Thermoplastic material, very strong, durable and weather-resistant.

Nylon

Particularly fine polyamide fibre, easy-care, durable, wrinkle-free and dries quickly.

Lycra

Synthetic fibre known for its exceptional elasticity, significant strength, insensitivity to sweat, and it is quick-drying.

Bamboo

Viscose yarn made from bamboo cellulose. The material is wrinkle-free, crease-resistant, breathable and antibacterial.

Coffee

Made of recycled coffee grounds. The material is odor-neutralizing, quick-drying, as well as light- and weather-resistant.

 Textile Engineering

Fleece

Synthetic knitted fabric usually made from polyester or cotton. The products are very easy-care and durable.

Piqué

Double weave, usually from cotton with a waffle or grainy surface. It is particularly absorbent and light.

Satin

Woven material with a glossy surface and a dull back. It can be made from many different fibres.

Satin

weave that has a glossy/shiny surface and a dull back

Jacquard

General term for patterned fabrics. The pattern is achieved through a relatively complicated control of warp yarns during the weaving/ knitting procedure.

Softshell

Consists of two or three layers laminated with membrane. The outer layer forms a mechanically tougher and more durable material which insulates the inner lining and wicks moisture. Depending on the processing and material softshell is permeable to air, water resistant, windproof and durable.

Coating

The term coating is used in the manufacturing technology. It is the application of a thin film of functional material to a surface.

Teflon

Trade name of a thermoplastic polymer. Teflon coated products have a high quality fabric protection. The fabric is stain repellent and allows liquids to bead up and roll off.

PLM * -PRO / TEX

Membrane with 5.000 - 10.000 mm water column

PLM * -FUNCTION / TEX

Membrane with 3.000mm - 5.000mm water column

PLM * -BASE / TEX

Membrane with 1.000mm - 3.000mm water column

Water column

Specifies the waterproofness of a fabric. Water column indicates the level of water pressure that a fabric can withstand before water penetrates it.
